Created in 1943, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is the official aid and development agency of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). CRS works with local, national and international institutions, to assist people on the basis of need, not creed, race or nationality. CRS is supporting international relief and development work in 100 countries around the world.

CRS began work in Cameroon in 1961, and adapts its program continually to the changing circumstances of the country and the needs of the Cameroonian people. CRS/Cameroon’s main focus currently is changing systems and policies at the national level. CRS/Cameroon’s current program portfolio has diversified funding sources, including the Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) mechanism, the Global Fund to fight against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM), the US Department of State.

CRS/Cameroon has a staff of 20 and the global budget for 2010 stands at $3.7million.
