The GIZ is an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations based in Eschborn near Frankfurt am Main, Germany. It promotes complex reforms and change processes, often working under difficult conditions. Its corporate objective is to improve people’s living conditions on a sustainable basis. GIZ employs some 12,000 staff in more than 120 countries of Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Eastern European countries in transition and the New Independent States (NIS). Around 9,000 of these staff are national personnel. GIZ maintains its own offices in 69 countries. Some 1,500 people are employed at Head Office in Eschborn near Frankfurt am Main.
