Guido Ashoff

German Development Institute
Mr. Guido Ashoff is the Senior Researcher and Head of Department at the German Development Institute (DIE) in Bonn. He has a long-standing career as a researcher at the German Development Institute (DIE) and heads the DIE department for "Bilateral and multilateral development policy." He has written extensively on development cooperation issues and carried out empirical research particularly in Latin America and the Middle East and North Africa.
 
Recent research and advisory projects include the evaluation of Germany's implementation of the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness, the international aid effectiveness agenda, policy coherence for development, the institutional reform of German development cooperation, and triangular cooperation. Mr. Ashoff reviewed the DAC Peer Review Process of the OECD's Development Assistance Committee (DAC) on behalf of the DAC in 2002 and served as a German examiner in the DAC Peer Reviews of Austria (2004) and Japan (2010).
 
He has a long-standing experience as an advisor to German development cooperation institutions, particularly the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and the EU.Mr. Ashoff is a member of the editorial board of The European Journal of Development Research, the advisory board of German Agro Action and the working party on policy coherence for development of the Joint Conference Church and Development (GKKE) in Germany.
 
He holds a PhD and a Diploma (MA equivalent) in political science from the Free University of Berlin.
