Zhong Wu

International Poverty Reduction Center in China
Dr. Wu Zhong is the Director General at the International Poverty Reduction Center in China. He has over twenty years of professional experience in poverty reduction and development. Currently, he is charting the roadmap for IPRCC especially for its core functions—research, training, exchange and cooperation on development and poverty reduction. Under his leadership, IPRCC has become an international hub for promoting South-South Cooperation.
 

In his earlier work experience, he has undertaken various poverty reduction studies and projects trusted both by the Chinese government and international organizations. Some of his previous positions include: Deputy Director of The Institute of Population Research, Peking University; Director of Division of Finance and Procurement, Foreign Capital Project Management Center, State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development (LGOP); Assistant to the Commissioner of Tongren Commission, Guizhou Province; Director General, Department of International Cooperation and Social Mobilization, LGOP. 

He has a PhD from Peking University, China; Master of Economics from Peking University, China; Master of Science from University of London, UK; and a BA from Peking University, China. One of his most recent publications is Theory and Frontier Issues in International Poverty Reduction 2010.
