The 4th Africa Carbon Forum (AFC) is a trade fair and knowledge sharing platform for carbon investments in Africa. It brings together representatives from Designated National Authorities (DNA), national focal points, and representatives from United Nations agencies, the World Bank, governments, and the private sector.

This year’s Carbon Forum will take place April 18-20, 2012 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at the UN Conference Centre.

It is the prime forum for transfer of know-how and exchange of experiences between project developers who have successfully implemented CDM projects in Africa and elsewhere, and those who are starting to develop their own projects on the continent

What to expect?

  • The event is an excellent opportunity for practitioners and policy makers to hear about the latest international policies and operational developments in the area of climate change and the use of carbon finance.
  • Matchmaking and deal facilitation sessions will allow potential Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project developers to showcase their projects to interested parties, including investors and carbon buyers.
  • Learn from the most respected experts in the public and private sectors on strategies and measures aimed at promoting the benefits of the CDM in the region, with emphasis on new CDM approaches.

Why another Africa Carbon Forum?

This is a crucial time is for global markets with companies and governments around the world turning to emission trading to fight climate change and join a global market. Agreements reached at the recent United Nations Climate Conference (CoP17) in Durban have provided clear signals that carbon markets and climate finance will continue to be part of the global response to climate change. The Africa Carbon Forum is the ‘go to’ place for the development of carbon markets in Africa and can help practitioners and policy makers to meet this growing global demand.

In addition to being a conference, the Africa Carbon Forum is also a fair providing international organizations, governments, and private companies with the perfect setting to exhibit and showcase their projects.
