Since its inception in 2004, the CARBON EXPO has been the annual milestone for market players involved in fostering and promoting the Clean Development Mechanism/Joint Implementation (CDM/JI) market across countries and regions. The CARBON EXPO provides national CDM agencies, investment promotion offices, local project developers and buyers from around the world with a premier forum for knowledge sharing on carbon policy and practice, and an effective marketplace for greenhouse gas emission reductions and carbon business solutions.

As in previous years, the World Bank will sponsor delegations from more than 40 developing countries and economies in transition to attend the CARBON EXPO in Barcelona and participate in the regional pavilions, side events and panel discussions. This is one way in which the World Bank is actively assisting its client countries in exploring carbon market opportunities.
