This event is part of the upcoming United Nations Climate Conference (CoP 17) in Durban, South Africa. The Mayors Task Force is comprised of the Mayors of Dar es Salaam, Jakarta, Mexico City, and Sao Paulo. These cities have recognized the importance of climate change and disaster risk and how they impact poor populations in their cities. All four cities have demonstrated strong support for taking action over the past year. 

The event, organized by the World Bank Institute, will include a presentation of the main findings of the global study, Climate Change, Disaster Risk and the Urban Poor, and an interactive panel discussion with high-level representation from the four cities on lessons learned and key actions emerging from the Task Force. Key tools for assessing of and planning for city level risk will also be presented at this session.
