Seeking: Youth Master Trainers for Climate Change
Are you between 18 and 32 years old, part of a youth network in a developing country and active in sustainable development, environmental, or climate change issues? Would you like to become a “Master Trainer” for climate change, and share your ideas with other young people in your country? Then this is your chance!
The World Bank Institute (WBI), British Council and Istanbul Technical University are looking for candidates to take part in a course: "Youth Master Trainers for Climate Change" from June 15 to18, 2010 at the Istanbul Technical University in Turkey.
The goal is to empower young people from the developing world to become agents of change in their home countries. Participants will learn about the core concepts in climate change and how to develop and maintain youth networks and organize and conduct knowledge sharing activities.
To support the master training initiative, WBI offers a web platform that provides access to informational resources on climate change, e-learning, and e-discussions to encourage peer-to-peer knowledge exchange.
The program is for youth from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cameroon, Egypt, Georgia, Ghana, Honduras, Kenya, Kosovo, Moldova, Nicaragua, Peru, Serbia, Tanzania, Uganda, Venezuela, and Yemen.
Candidates should complete and submit a two-page application form in English and a short project proposal. Twenty Youth Master Trainers will be selected to receive modest financial support to start new climate change projects in their home countries.
