Managing Risk for Development
Read the blog post, "Managing Risk for Development – Through a New World Bank MOOC", from Sheila Jagannathan, Lead Learning Specialist and Program Manager of the e-Institute.
In her post, Jagannathan writes about the World Bank Group's newest MOOC, "Risk and Opportunity: Managing Risk for Development." The four-week course, based on the World Bank’s flagship report, the World Development Report 2014, Risk and Opportunity: Managing Risk for Development, shows how "risk management can be used as a tool for development by helping to minimize crises but also unlocking important opportunities."
The interactive course has so far over 20,000 learners from 111 countries registered, and is free and open to all interested, which, as Jagannathan writes, include development practitioners, policy makers, students, and the general public. In her post, she explains in detail what one can expect from the MOOC, beginning June 30th, 2014. The MOOC has been jointly developed by the World Bank Institute’s Open Learning Campus and the World Bank’s Development Economics Vice Presidency.
